ARTICLE: AFTER SUMMER SKIN-CARE ROUTINE

Our skin’s needs change with the seasons and so our skin-care routine should too!

We enjoyed the sun and sea but didn’t really look after our skin, forgetting to reapply sunscreen or moisturize after sun exposure. Here is how to restore tired skin and reverse some of the wear and tear that skin takes during the summer, in order to reveal a healthier and youthful look!

Exfoliate
The best way to reveal the natural glow is to remove the tired and dull skin by exfoliation and deep cleansing and encouraging cell turnover. Moreover, exfoliating allows moisturizers to be deeper absorbed and to boost their effectiveness. Be careful to avoid the sensitive area around the eyes.

Hydrate
Secondly, a rich moisturizer to replace lost moisture from the skin’s surface, hydrating and feeding it, can also aid cell regeneration and reduce the appearance of fine lines. This will then encourage epidermal cell turnover to speed up and return to normal. Apart from your daily moisturizing cream add to your post-summer regimen a moisturizing mask 2 or 3 times per week, until you feel your skin plump again.
Keep hydrated from the inside out! Drink water or consume fruits and vegetables, juices or teas, throughout the day!

SPF
Make sure you use your sunscreen in the autumn months as well, to prevent UVA rays causing damage to your skin even at this time of year. Remember UVA comes through windows and cloudy weather too, so you’re never totally safe from sun damage.
